Religious Education
RE Overview
Religious Education and the development of our pupils' Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural education are both integral parts of the Wenlock CE Academy curriculum. RE is taught for one hour each week.
The RE curriculum at Wenlock CE Academy combines Understanding Christianity units with the Emmanuel project. We have chosen units from the Emmanuel project to provide a broad understanding of a range of religions whilst ensuring it reflects our school and local community faiths. Our curriculum also reflects our Christian values and ensures that our children have a key understanding of these values. Our RE Curriculum supports pupils in developing their own thinking and their understanding of Christianity by helping them develop and explain their understanding of the world and their own experiences whilst also taking into account the viewpoints and religious beliefs of those in our wider community.
All that we do celebrates and explores life in response to God’s love. We believe Jesus Christ offers real hope for our world, and as stated in Matthew 5: 14-16, 14
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Therefore, it encompasses our school vision of helping all members of our school community to become lights for the world.
